$75M+ raised for underprivileged children.
Established in 1983 by Marc Player to support the local farm children in his native South Africa — now a global education programme funded by charitable golf.
How it works
Since 1983 the Foundation has grown tremendously and raised over $75M+ for underprivileged children worldwide, through staging a global series of charitable golf events.
We own, manage and operate these tournaments and raise funds through participation fees, auctions, donations and grants. The PLAYER Foundation is a registered tax exempt 501(c)(3) organization within the United States of America.
On how the Foundation's school projects are structured:
“a tripartite relationship between government, the local community, and the Player Foundation”
Education, conservation, community
- Children's educationThe Foundation's founding purpose and still its largest programme — supporting underprivileged children's education worldwide.
- Wildlife conservationThe Ian Player Indaba is in development to raise awareness and funds for critical wildlife conservation initiatives.
- Community developmentThe Samora Machel Invitational, in development in Mozambique, will support community development in the late President's name.
